The Reaper's Stone

"I can't believe I let you girls talk me into this," said the reaper boy following close behind the girl and me on our way to my school.

"You know," I said to him "you didn't have to follow us."

"Yes I do," he put his left hand on his chest over his heart and raised the other straight out as though he was quoting poetry. "The future of my charges soul could very well depend on it."

"How poetic," I said rolling my eyes.

"Besides, if I lose another soul my boss is going to bust me down to U.T."

"Dare I ask what U.T. stands for?"

"Undertaker," he said bluntly. "And I hate working with corpses."

"Unh-hunh, and that's why you became a reaper."

"We deal with the souls, lady. They deal with the body."
I sighed and rolled my eyes. "Well. While we have nothing to do why don't we introduce ourselves?"

"Alright," said the reaper boy clearing his throat."My name is: Trent... uh....... uuuuuhhh....God almighty, it has been awhile since I used my family name. Anyway," He pointed at the crow on his shoulder. "This raven here is my familiar, Poe the Raven. He can change into various items and weapons that I'll need."

"Me," said the ghost girl "my name is Janie-eve Roy, and I'm twelve years old... or at least I would be if I were still alive." Tears came to her eye as she said that.
"So," said Trent "you're French?"

"Acadian," The tears in her eyes grew bigger and flowed down her cheeks.

"So Trent," I said trying to change the subject. "How will you and Poe get into my school unnoticed?"

"Well the hood of my hoodie has a function similar to Hades' Helm of Darkness: when worn it acts as an invisibility cloak. Though, it doesn't work on people who are dead or have strong souls." He pulled his hood over his head and became as translucent as Janie-eve. "Poe on the other hand, will have to make like a real crow and stay outside."
Poe frowned and flew off into the trees.
